The Historic Cruiser USS Olympia is in danger of being lost forever. Financial considerations may result in the ship being sunk or scrapped. 

The ship was the flagship of Admiral Dewey at the Battle of Manila during the Spanish American War. It also brought the remains of the unknown soldier home after WWI.  Destroying such an icon of America borders on criminal.

This satellite view is of the Delaware River just south of Tasker Avenue. It appears to be the wrecks of several wooden ships half buried in the mud. The Ship just north of the pilings is perhaps in the best shape of the group. The length appears to be about 200 feet or so.
